Bayern Munich have signed 18-year-old goalkeeper Jae-Won Heo from the 2026 World Squad. The South Korean joins the U19s on a six-month loan from Jeju SK.
What happened?
Jae-Won Heo stood out during this year’s World Squad, a multi-week training camp for young talents. His passing ability and commanding presence in goal (195 cm tall) caught the eye. He becomes only the third World Squad player to earn a Bayern contract.
Why does this matter for Bayern Munich?
The goalkeeper impressed during a trial in January and confirmed his quality in the World Squad. Michael Wiesinger, Head of Sport and Youth Development, said: „Jae-Won is an exciting talent. We look forward to his development in the U19 team.“ Heo joins the goalkeeping group with Matthias Kösters, Luis Nadler and David Podar-Stiube.
What comes next?
Heo will initially play for the U19s. Whether he can displace Podar-Stiube as starter remains to be seen. Jeju SK, a partner club since September 2025, will also face Bayern in the Audi Summer Tour opener on August 4, 2026.
