Bayern Munich recently established a joint venture with Los Angeles FC (LAFC) to enhance talent development. This venture, named "Red&Gold Football," aims to share opportunities and risks between the two clubs. The founding took place in March 2023 and demonstrates how Bayern Munich seeks to expand its international reach. According to Managing Director Jochen Sauer, the focus is on developing talent in North America and other regions. A joint venture facilitates administrative collaboration, especially during scouting trips. Christoph Breuer from the German Sports University points out, however, that it may be more challenging for Bayern Munich to implement its own playing and development culture within this joint venture. The first steps of "Red&Gold Football" include acquiring Racing Club de Montevideo in Uruguay and partnering with a football academy in Gambia. These initiatives aim to identify and train talented players. The collaboration with LAFC, which has prominent co-owners like Magic Johnson and Mia Hamm, shows that Bayern Munich is well-positioned in the global competition for talent.
