Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has experienced another collapse during a friendly match. The 23-year-old, who collapsed twice in four days, has been diagnosed with a 'neurological dysfunction'.
During the match against Heidenheim, Musiala collapsed six minutes after coming off the bench, receiving medical attention and being helped off the pitch. He had already collapsed during the match against RB Leipzig in Munich.
The player, who missed the first six months of last season after breaking his ankle at the 2025 Club World Cup, explained in an Instagram statement that he lives with a 'temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures'. These can 'currently just be part of my everyday life', he said.
Musiala, who returned in the second half of the 2022/23 season and started three of Germany's four games at the 2026 World Cup, is receiving 'excellent medical treatment' and is 'optimistic'.
'FC Bayern and my family and friends are always by my side and supporting me on this journey,' he added.
Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl said Musiala would speak out later, stating, 'We knew about it and we are aware of the situation. Jamal will speak out. He's in the dressing room, getting changed and taking a shower.'
