Bayern Munich should sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery — at least that’s what ex-Bayern player and Georgia national team coach Willy Sagnol recommends.
Why Sagnol wants Zaïre-Emery at Bayern
Willy Sagnol, who coached Bayern in 2017, calls Zaïre-Emery „very Bayern-like“. The 20-year-old impresses with his confident demeanor, winning mentality and hard work. „He has a great character, works hard and has developed impressively on the pitch,“ Sagnol told SPORT BILD. The PSG academy product has already won the Champions League twice — a point that also convinces Bayern sporting director Jan-Christian Dreesen.
His market value stands at €80 million according to transfermarkt.de. His Paris contract runs until 2029. Sagnol hints: „If he keeps sitting on the bench too often in Paris, he might want to leave.“ Still, the transfer would be expensive.
Michael Olise as a Bayern alternative?
Sagnol also praises Bayern’s Michael Olise for his performances at the Euros. The 24-year-old dazzled with eye-catching offensive moves. Olise remains happy in Munich, Sagnol says: „He knows what he has in Munich: a great environment, top teammates, an excellent coach.“ Real Madrid is already interested in Olise, but Bayern wants to keep him.
Bayern’s current injury crisis
Bayern are missing forwards Serge Gnabry and winger Lennart Karl due to injury. Both have been unavailable since early July. Gnabry, 29, has struggled with muscle issues for months, while 22-year-old Karl is still not fully match-fit after a knee injury.
What’s next for Bayern?
Bayern plan to tie Olise down long-term. But rivals won’t wait: Real Madrid and others are watching the dribbling talent closely. Zaïre-Emery remains a costly but tempting option — if PSG lets him go. Bayern must act before others strike.
Currently sidelined: Lennart Karl, Serge Gnabry.
