Bayern Munich confirm permanent signing of Bara Sapoko Ndiaye

Bayern Munich have confirmed the permanent signing of 18-year-old Gambian midfielder Bara Sapoko Ndiaye. The teenager, who joined the German champions on loan from Gambino Stars Academy in January, will now become a permanent member of the squad. Sporting director Christoph Freund revealed the news ahead of Bayern’s first pre-season friendly, a 2-1 defeat to SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

Who is Bara Sapoko Ndiaye?

Ndiaye was initially a surprise when he joined Bayern on loan in January. The then-unknown player was thought to be an attacker but ended up playing in defensive midfield. In four substitute appearances, his market value rose from €300,000 to €4 million. The Bavarians had already indicated their intention to sign the young talent permanently this summer.

“The final details still need to be worked out, but I expect him to start the season with us,” Freund told reporters. “Bara will take the fitness tests next Monday at Säbener Straße and then join us at the training camp at Lake Tegernsee.”
