Bayern Munich are parting ways with João Palhinha and Sacha Boey this season. Sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed on Saturday that the duo will no longer play a major role for the club. They will continue training with the team, but their next step is elsewhere, Freund stated.

What does this mean for Bayern?

Freund made it clear that Palhinha and Boey are aware of their situation. Both are good players who could still add value elsewhere. Palhinha’s recent performances helped Tottenham secure Premier League survival, while Boey impressed in Turkey with Galatasaray.

A sale is Bayern’s preferred route, Freund said. „This is not what we are planning, but nothing can be ruled out in the transfer market“, he added. Loans are possible but not the club’s first choice. Bayern are especially keen to sell Palhinha permanently.

Who else is in Bayern’s sights?

Alongside Palhinha and Boey, Bryan Zaragoza and Armindo Sieb could also leave. Even Hiroki Ito and Alphonso Davies are open to exceptional offers, according to Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg. Bayern plans to sign at most one new player before the window closes.

Plettenberg stressed that a new right-back is not a priority right now. Despite reports suggesting otherwise, Bayern’s transfer strategy remains focused on selling, not buying.

What’s next for Palhinha and Boey?

Both players will stay in the squad and train with the team for now. But their status is clear: they are no longer part of Bayern Munich’s plans for the new season. Freund sees strong market potential for both and believes they could strengthen many teams.

Loans are not off the table, but Bayern prefer permanent deals. „I think both have a good market“, Freund said. The search for new clubs is already underway, but anything can still happen until the transfer window shuts.

Currently sidelined for Bayern Munich are Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry. The two stars have been out injured for weeks and remain unavailable.
