Bayern Munich and PSG eye De Ketelaere after World Cup heroics

Bayern Munich is monitoring Belgian forward Charles De Ketelaere alongside Paris Saint-Germain. The 25-year-old starred at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with three goals and an assist in five games. Atalanta now demands at least €50 million for the versatile attacker. Currently, Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry are sidelined for Bayern.

Why De Ketelaere fits Bayern Munich

De Ketelaere lit up the 2026 World Cup, especially in the quarter-final against the USA. He scored twice inside 20 minutes and set up another goal in a 3:1 win that sent the hosts packing. PSG boss Luis Enrique values the Belgian’s flexibility in attack. Bayern sporting director Jan Christian Dreesen confirmed the club is „closely monitoring“ the player. The Bavarians seek attacking reinforcements after Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané suffered injuries.

Atalanta’s price and possible alternatives

Atalanta has set De Ketelaere’s valuation at €50 million-plus. Should the move go through, it would mark the second major departure after Marco Palestra’s switch to Chelsea. Ederson’s transfer to Manchester United collapsed earlier due to medical issues. Bayern could deploy De Ketelaere as competition for Thomas Müller or as a partner for Mathys Tel.

When will the decision come?

Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur reports both Bayern and PSG show serious interest. Bayern, however, prioritizes a longer monitoring phase. If Atalanta tables an acceptable bid, the transfer could wrap before August 31, 2026. The club also plans to unveil further reinforcements by then.
