Bayern Munich will maintain tradition with a team visit to the Oktoberfest's Käfer tent this Sunday. The timing on September 20th, however, creates a particularly tight schedule this year for several of the club's international stars.
The issue stems from FIFA's new consolidated international break, which runs from September 21st to October 6th. Players like Alphonso Davies, Minjae Kim, and Luis Díaz, who face long trips to join Canada, South Korea, and Colombia respectively, would have preferred a Saturday visit. That would have allowed a recovery day or earlier travel. The opening Saturday of the festival was ruled out for logistical and security reasons, leaving the traditional first Sunday slot.
Tight Turnaround Before Union Berlin
The visit comes just one day after a Friday night Bundesliga home game against Union Berlin. From the following Monday, players are officially required to report for international duty. This leaves almost no time for the private group visits to the festival that have been common in past years, as the break covers nearly the entire Wiesn period.
The squad must now fit the event into a compressed weekend schedule. The current squad list highlights which players face the longest journeys. After the tent visit, focus immediately shifts back to football, with the next competitive match after the break already on the fixtures page. For supporters, it likely means this year's sightings of their stars at the world's largest folk festival will be limited to the official team outing.
