Armindo Sieb’s Journey with Bayern Munich

Armindo Sieb has officially left Bayern Munich after six years, joining Major League Soccer (MLS) side Los Angeles FC for a reported €500,000. The 23-year-old attacker had been part of the Bavarian club since 2020 when he was just 17 years old but never received a significant first-team opportunity despite his promising start.

Sieb initially joined Bayern from RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim’s youth systems, making only one competitive senior appearance for the club. His breakthrough came in 2022 with Greuther Fürth, where Bayern allowed him to develop before exercising a buyback clause. During his time at Fürth, Sieb scored 12 goals in 33 league appearances and earned international recognition.

Mainz Loan Spell: Flashes of Potential

Sieb’s next significant development came during his two-year loan spell with Mainz 05. Although the first season was somewhat inconsistent, he managed to score two Bundesliga goals and provide three assists despite limited playing time. His performance in a December 2024 match against Bayern Munich, where he assisted both goals in a 2-1 victory, highlighted his potential.

The second loan period at Mainz offered Sieb more opportunities but also challenges. Despite initial promise under Bo Henriksen’s guidance, Sieb struggled to establish himself as a regular starter. His chance to step up came when Silas was injured, and he responded with useful performances in the Conference League, including scoring against Sigma Olomouc.

LAFC: New Chapter for Sieb

Returning to Bayern for preseason this summer, Sieb trained with the first team but did not have a realistic path into Vincent Kompany’s squad. Los Angeles FC now provides Sieb with his next development opportunity. The MLS club has a strong relationship with Bayern through the “Red&Gold Football” partnership and previously signed Timothy Tillman from the Bayern academy.

Sieb also knows Tillman personally, as they played together at Greuther Fürth before Tillman moved to LAFC in February 2023. Christoph Freund, Bayern’s sporting director, expressed optimism about Sieb's future with Los Angeles FC: 'We are very happy that, after Timothy Tillman, he is now the second player to make the move from our campus to our ‘Red&Gold’ partner club Los Angeles FC. We know that he is in very good hands there and will take the next step.'
