Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany confirmed the club has known about Jamal Musiala's health condition since last season. The 21-year-old striker, who joined Bayern in January 2024, suffers from a chronic illness, whose details the club did not elaborate. Kompany emphasized that the team has worked with experts since then to manage the situation. 'We have prepared for the challenge and are optimistic we have found the best solution,' he said.
The most interesting part of the press conference was the mention of recent incidents in the games against Leipzig and Heidenheim. Kompany explained that the unexpected symptoms were due to a change in medication. 'The adjustment of the treatment plan led to side effects, but we are now back on the original plan,' he said. Musiala, who had paused multiple times in recent weeks, will train individually and not be in the Supercup squad.
The Bayern officials emphasized that Musiala has always been fully supported. 'His teammates knew about the situation since the start of the season, and it is no longer a topic discussed internally,' said sports director Hasan Salihamidžić. The club has clear guidelines to relieve Musiala psychologically. The striker, who has already played 13 Bundesliga games, will work intensively on his fitness in the coming weeks. Kompany added: 'He has already made significant progress in the last season, and we expect him to be back in full form in the coming weeks.'
