Transfer in Final Stages
Bayern Munich sports board member Max Eberl confirmed on Thursday that João Palhinha's transfer to Benfica is in the final stages. The Portuguese, who joined Bayern from Fulham in 2024, could soon return to the Portuguese Liga after a year with the Bavarians. Eberl stated that although a contract is in place, "some details still need to be clarified".
Palhinha's Career at Bayern
Palhinha, 26, moved to Bayern from Fulham in the summer of 2024 and spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur. Although he returned to Bayern in July 2025, his position remained unclear. The midfielder, who made his Bundesliga debut in January 2025, has now apparently found his way back to Portugal. The transfer is estimated at up to €19-20 million, including bonuses.
Contract and Future
Eberl indicated that the contract between Bayern and Benfica is already finalized. However, "some details" still need to be clarified, suggesting a final review of the contract terms. Palhinha, who sat on the bench in recent months, could thus conclude his career change and continue in the Primeira Liga.
