Bayern midfielder Jamal Musiala (23) collapsed six minutes into his appearance in Bayern's 4-2 friendly win against Heidenheim. The German international was surrounded by players from both teams as he received medical treatment and was helped off the pitch. Musiala had also collapsed during a previous friendly against Leipzig. The player posted on Instagram explaining he had been diagnosed with temporary, easily treatable absence seizures caused by a neurological condition.

Coach Vincent Kompany stated the medication change was the cause of Musiala's collapses. „I spoke with Jamal, he said, ‚No problem, you can say it‘,“ Kompany told a press conference. „With his treatment, he changed some things and that had some side effects. That is normal that during treatment you try something else.“ Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the club had known about the condition since the entire last season. „For us, it’s become part of everyday life,“ Eberl said. Musiala will not be in the squad for Saturday’s German Supercup match against Borussia Dortmund, giving him time to adjust to his condition being public knowledge.

Kompany emphasized that Musiala, who struggled to recover from a serious injury in July 2025 that sidelined him for six months, had made significant progress and was ready to deliver. „I am completely calm,“ Kompany said. „I now expect the counterattack from Jamal. I have the feeling that he now has all the means to deliver these answers.“
