Bayern Munich is currently not holding talks to extend Michael Olise's contract. The player is tied to the record champions for several more years, which the club's leadership sees as removing any urgency to act.
CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen confirmed that there are currently no such discussions. He pointed to the long duration of the existing contract, which provides no reason for hasty action. Internally, other contract matters take priority, most notably the future of superstar Harry Kane.
Olise himself is notably reserved in public. The French international rarely speaks to the media. This demeanor has sparked debate. Former Germany international Didi Hamann commented on it during a TV broadcast. He questioned how the club would handle it in the long run and had the feeling the player was refusing everything. Hamann sees the club in a dilemma: they want to set clear rules, but fear a strict line could complicate later extension talks.
On the pitch, Olise is in excellent form. With several goals in a handful of season appearances, he is currently the team's most prolific scorer. In the high home victory against Union Berlin in late September, he scored three times. He had already shown this form at the World Cup with France, which fueled global interest and transfer rumours. Bayern, however, is relying on the existing long-term agreement.
The team looks ahead to its next match with a mixed record from its recent competitive games. In mid-October, they have an away match in the league. The current squad list shows one injured player. The upcoming fixtures will reveal if Olise can maintain his strong form while his contractual future remains unchanged for now.
