Bayern Munich travel to face SC Freiburg on Sunday (17:30 local time) in search of much-needed consistency. The Bavarians arrive at the Dreisam with a run of three consecutive draws, most recently a 2-2 result against Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday. Their last five competitive matches have yielded no wins, three draws and two defeats.

They have failed to win any of their last five competitive matches, with their current form reading DLDDL. The 6-1 thrashing of RB Leipzig on Saturday 17 October feels like a distant memory against this backdrop. The upcoming tasks in the fixtures list are key to avoid losing touch with the top of the table. Their next fixture comes away to SC Freiburg on Sunday 25 October.

Last lineup offers clues

The back four consisted of Laimer, Upamecano, Kim Min-jae and Stanišić. Bischof and Aleksandar Pavlović operated in the defensive midfield. Gnabry, Saibari and Alphonso Davies supported striker Harry Kane, who converted a penalty and provided an assist in the last match.

It was Davies who scored the equaliser to make it 1-1 against Arsenal. In the Bundesliga, however, the goals are currently coming reliably from Michael Olise. The attacking player is the team's current top scorer this season with five goals in six appearances. His form will be needed again in Freiburg.

Opponent with European fatigue

SC Freiburg are also coming off a midweek European fixture, but suffered a 3-0 defeat at Monaco in the Conference League. Nevertheless, the Breisgau side are an awkward proposition at home, as shown by their recent 3-2 win over Jablonec.

For Bayern, the task is to plug the defensive gaps of recent weeks. The team has conceded nine goals in its last four matches. The return of injured key players, is eagerly awaited to find more stability. The clash at the Europa-Park-Stadion is the next test on that path.
