FC Bayern München AG has sold its final available share package to the Viessmann Generations Group. The deal was executed as a capital increase, raising the family company's stake to approximately 6.7 percent.
Herbert Hainer, president of FC Bayern, said this step strengthens the ownership structure of FC Bayern München AG. The transaction became effective upon registration in the commercial register. The supervisory board of the AG will be expanded from nine to ten members, with Max Viessmann, CEO of the Viessmann Generations Group, taking a seat.
The shareholder structure is now complete. FC Bayern München e.V. continues to hold 70 percent of the shares. The remaining 30 percent is distributed among four minority shareholders, which besides Viessmann include Allianz, Audi and Adidas. Each holds less than a tenth. The sum involved in the share acquisition was not disclosed.
The partnership between the record champions and Viessmann began in 2018 as a brand cooperation and was later expanded into an international climate partnership. The company, with several thousand employees and a turnover in the billions, sold its Climate Solutions business to Carrier Global in 2024. The deepened ties are intended to advance the club's sustainability, internationalisation and digitalisation.
The strengthened economic flexibility comes during a period where recent sporting results have been mixed. The last five matches have yielded zero wins, three draws and two defeats. Most recently, Vincent Kompany's side drew 2-2 with Arsenal on Tuesday, with goals from Alphonso Davies and a Harry Kane penalty. This followed a 6-1 win over RB Leipzig, where Luis Díaz scored a hat-trick, and three further draws against FC Augsburg, Viking and Arsenal. The next challenge is an away fixture against SC Freiburg on Sunday 25 October as part of the ninth matchday. The team remains in the upper reaches of the table, though the gap to the top is several points. The finishing of top scorer Michael Olise, who has five goals this season, is particularly valuable during this run. The current standings and upcoming fixtures outline the path ahead.
