Bayern Munich will not make a move for Liverpool's Florian Wirtz in the upcoming winter transfer window. President Herbert Hainer made this clear on Friday morning in Munich during the unveiling of a memorial plaque for former club official Willi Buisson.

“We have such a top squad, we are incredibly happy at the moment and therefore that is not an issue for us,” said the 72-year-old, ending speculation about a return of the 23-year-old Germany international. Wirtz, who moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool for a fee of 125 million euros in the summer of 2025, had chosen the Reds over Bayern at the time. His contract at Anfield runs until 2030.

Hainer expressed sympathy for the player's current form-he has yet to score in eight appearances this season-but stressed the strength of Bayern's own attack. With Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, Luis Díaz and Harry Kane, the club possesses outstanding quality. Olise is currently the team's top scorer with four goals in five matches. The team, with just one point from its last two league games, now looks ahead to the important home match against RB Leipzig on Saturday. Recent results, including a 3-3 draw at Viking Stavanger and a 2-2 draw in Augsburg, highlight areas for improvement.

The president also used the memorial event to make a societal statement. “I stand here as president of FC Bayern and promise you: The values of Willi Buisson will always drive FC Bayern,” Hainer said. The former board member Buisson was executed by the Nazis in 1940 at the age of 48.

Sportingly, the record champions are now fully focused on upcoming tasks. The current standings and the further fixtures are the priority, not expensive winter business. With young talent Lennart and established stars, the squad is well-equipped for the challenges ahead in the league and Champions League. The next competitive match is at the Allianz Arena on 17 October.
